Episode 38 - Hannah LaBolle

Mending Families is hosted by Melissa Pemberton and she brings you weekly content that is a mix of trauma aware interviews, parenting tips for those caring for kids from adversity, and stories from people just like you as they share their beautiful messy moments. Melissa hopes that when you listen each week, you will feel encouraged, inspired and take a little something away to help you and your family move from broken to mended.

Hannah LaBolle is a wife to Andy, mom to Eli and Finn, an adoptive mom, former foster parent, small business owner and enneagram 9.  She loves hanging out with her family, cooking slow food, drinking really good coffee and listening to audiobooks. I have known Hannah for over 8 years and she has become one of my closest friends. I am so excited for you all to meet her!

On today’s episode, Hannah shares their journey to adopting their son and all that they learned along the way. We also talk about invisible disabilities and Hannah gives some great things for us to think about whether as a supporter/friend or a parent in the thick of parenting a kid from hard. Stay until the end because she gives us some resources that you are going to want to check out!

If you are interested in learning more about Hannah (and her amazing coffee shop, West Plains Roasters), check her out in Instagram @HannahLaBolle

 Topics Hannah mentions:

*All of the Enneagram tests Hannah took kept telling her she was a different number. It wasn’t until she read The Road Back to You by Ian Cron  that she finally was able to identify with a 9w1 on the Enneagram. Highly recommend checking it out!

*Hannah has taken the 8 week course, Making Sense of Your Worth, from me twice and recommends that every person take this course at least once. Contact me at melissa@mendingfamilieswa.com to inquire about the course.

*Hannah found the book The Explosive Child by Ross Greene helpful in their hardest days

*Body scanning is something Hannah will do when she starts to feel overwhelmed. She also shared with us what she calls “turning off the noise pollution” that is also helpful for her to clear her body/mind from outside noise.  She first heard about a body scan from the author of Foster the Family, Jamie Finn. Check out Jamie’s book HERE
